There are a lot of guys from Oklahoma and Texas that come through here on the way to and from Williston. 4 or 5 guys cram into a Suburban or Expedition, fill the rest of the space up with luggage, and go work for two or three weeks, then go home for their week or two, whatever rotation they are on. Some guys from this area are driving up there to work, it's only a long 1-day drive from here. Walmart and Subway were advertising starting pay at $13-$15 an hour. It was already winter in late September when I was up there two years ago. Could have walked into a job but don't like the cold so much. They were starting on the new rail yard in Tioga when I was there, and setting up a man-camp n the grounds, had almost a 1/2 mile building pad leveled out and setting shacks on it that were built about the size of a shipping container, I think they bunked 4 to a shack.
