O T rosettes for drop down ceiling lights

I am in need of some porcelain ceiling box covers like seen in the 30's that have the hole in the center with the two twisted wires coming through and the pull chain light socket on the end. I think these are called rosettes. Would like to locate the cloth covered wire as well and the light sockets too. If anybody could point me to these things I would really appreciate it. I've searched the internet to no avail. And to keep this tool related, I'll use a screwdriver to install them with. Thanks to all here. I don't post much, but I lurk every day. Rosettes are the decorative pieces usually made of plaster)that surround chandeliers, etc., on the ceilings. There are also rosetters made of wood, usually at the upper corners of the old door trim.

Cloth covered wire would be illegal to use anymore to conduct electricity. If found in a building during remodelling, it must all be removed to bring it up to code and meet insurance requirements. The insurance company would deny any claim if they found cloth covered wire.

I believe what you are asking for is called a drop-down light. Those probably are not legal anymore either without a chain to support the light.

Are you refering to the lights that hang or the porceilan lights that have a pull cord but fasten to the box? The porcelain lights are sold still at the Home Depot in Orange Texas, and I saw them in homes built within the past ten years while I was there. The mobile home that I lived in in Vinton, LA while I was there was remanufactured since 2005 and had one in the walk in closet and in one of the bedrooms. The clothe covered wires, however, do not meet code in any state. I can"t imagine that anyone even still produces or sells any, any more. If you find that type of wire in your house, you should replace them with more current wire. Back to the lights. They are not irreplacable with more updated lights. The newer light fixtures can screw right up where these porcelian fixtures were.

Rejuvenation Supply in Oregon does massive amounts of period lighting, both rebuilt old and reproductions that look period correct. The advantage of the reproductions are they are more code friendly, say plastic coated wire sheathed in cloth, looks old works new because it's a bad thing to burn your house down. They are on the web too.

I always called those things that mounted above the light canopy (PIA) medallions. Hated those things and charged extra when I had to install one.
