My local power products dealer is a real good guy. He sells Dolmar chainsaws and I wonder if anyone has had any experience with this brand.

Have a 6400 and a 7900 both are great saws for occasional use. Few years back I was working production logging and the 7900 was a good saw but I wore out the anti-vibration mounts a few times when I was using it all day everyday.

Now I use it for firewood and haven't had any problems.

I love them. More bang-for-the-buck then Sthil. I tend to buy the Blue Dolmars marketed as Makita. Makita owns Dolmar.

Dolmar has been around longer then Stihl but I guess never fought hard for a US presence.

My main "users" are a 51cc and a 64 cc. DCS510 and a DCS6410.

Don't know if they are the same or not, but Dad's got a Sachs-Dolmar that he bought new in 1990, right after hurrican Hugo came through out area. That old saw cleaned up after hugo, cleared lots for two houses, and two shops, and just generally got used hard. It's now going on 22 years old and other than a new set of anti-vibration mounts about 10 years ago it has never given a problem.

Do it! My 028 Stihl puked after only 28 years so I had to replace it. Went with a Dolmar PS5100 - more power, uses less gas and cost $200 less than the comparable Stihl. Still satisfied after 3 years.

Another thing to note, Dolmar invented the gas powered chainsaw.

I have had one since 1990, used it alot, other than the vibration dampers and sprockets, I have done nothing to it, starts easy and cuts good.

Excellent saws. I have 3 Sachs Dolmars and wouldn't hesitate to buy a Dolmar/Makita if I had the chance. Every bit as good as Stihl/Husky/Jred.
