The label on the generator may say 6500W. That is a stretch for continuous operation at that output without burning out the gen. It has the amperage regulated to two amps and voltage is regulated to 14.1 volts. Other makes of generators may have this same feature. Read the manual as it has a lot of useful info. It programmed to start once a week for 20 minutes and also starts automatically when the power is off. If you decide to buy one of these hire a master electrician that has wired transfer switches for a long time. I would also get the required permits to have the wiring and plumbing inspected. You also need to decide which circuits you want on the transfer switch. You can have up to 16 circuits on the 14kw and I have 13 circuits. I don't have well water anymore. All of my big appliances are natural gas. I bought the generator from Norwall.com in AZ off the Internet. There's free shipping and no sales tax. Hal [Reply]  [No Email]

You could go to a shop that specializes in generators and get a custom built diesel generator that would run almost forever but would be pricey.
