mortising ?????

I found out what's in my last post on the Ridgid something post . I'm not a woodchuck. Really enjoy working with steel.
I know my tool mounts on a drill press. But how does it work? What are you mortising? Don't quite understand on its operation? Thanks

Essentially the mortising attachment is a tool to drill square holes. It is a square tubing sharpened like a chisel on the end with a drill bit in the center. As the drill bit drills out the hole the square chisel cuts out the corners making a square hole and then you can move it over and make more having a rectangular hole.

Now as for as operation it is for a mortise and tenon joint. Instead of putting two pieces of wood together with dowels you cut a tenon on the end of one piece and mortise the other.

Oh i got to get one of those way better then that China made piece of junk that i have now . The set up takes forever and you have to watch each and every cut as they do not hold true , even with a milling vice .
