Trying to find a home for them before winter means storage space will be needed fro snowblower, trying to get some heating money out of them. RN. [Reply]  [No Email]

Catholic church was built 1893, glass likely installed 1920s to early 1930s or maybe 1974 when addition put on- but the people that looked at it told deacon it was "baroque" style in 1920s. they couldn"t use the large size, got a smaller side window about 3x4. The large size looks like most could be cut down to a 4 by 6 main piece like Madonna and child, the Archs are seperated design and lower/bottom design on most seem a different picture also with design split at a cross bar. I looked at them while moving them to storage, nice looking but not right for "plain" church with clear windows and lots of lights. So I pass on what the knowledgable about glass said- they"re nice looking is my opinion. 2 had real good frames, rest had usable with some restoring frames that held everthing in with a little flex. Choir director is the picture taker with good camera but not so good with PC/computer loading- I was supposed to have gotten pictures last month for a dealers look but haven"t recieved any yet. Windows stored in La Motte, Iowa 18 miles south of Dubuque, look for church at top of hill, 419 pine street if you"re in area. Make decent offer- the new windows are advertised for $5000.00 to $8000.00 installed while basic used salvage is 10% new advertised- about like old tractors (need to keep this tractor related so mentioned tractor pricing- and a snowplow equiped tractor that has mower might make a good trade- snowplowing and grass mowing is a need in couple new churchs beside us). We had a stained glass shop do some Frank Lloyd Wright inspired gemetric pattern to fill in a 2-foot high space the lengh of out stair enclosure. Looks pretty cool when the stair light is on. It would've been at least 7 or 8,000 dollars at retail. The pieces were 4 ft x 4 ft. I've also bought some on-line, but for colors that I don't have, I usually get it from Hobby Lobby; it's not cheap.....5 to 9 dollars per square ft. Other supplies (foil, came, solder, patina, tools, flux, etc), I buy on-line from various places, much of it comes from..... here [Reply]  [No Email]
