JDseller 09-25-2012 19:35:46 208.126.196.144 Report to Moderator	I see lots of guy that put corn head grease into leaking gear cases. I do this myself on ones that are not used very often, Like the ones on grain augers. Getting the grease into the box can be a PIA as some of them have a small filler hole that a grease gun tip will not fit down through. So take pieces of 1/4 inch brake line 12 inch long, 1/8 pipe to brake fitting adapter, 1/8 pipe coupling and a 1/8 grease zerk. So you end up with a grease zerk on the end of a long skinny pipe. You can then stick that down into the gear case clear to the bottom. Then just pump it full. You will not have the air pockets that you do when trying to just pump it in through the small filler hole. This way when you see the grease coming up the to filler hole you are more likely to have enough in it. Just pumping in the top ends up with big air pockets in the grease that makes it hard to see when you are full. [Reply]   [No Email]

Get a metal can (the heaver the better) about quart size, Get a jug of 30W chain and bar oil and pour about an inch in the can and start adding regular grease to it and stir it up and keep adding grease till it good and thick but porable. Take a torch and heat the can slowly from the bottom till it thins down like 30W motor oil, Then simply pour into the gear box and as it cools it will thicken back up and not leak out.
