Driving over to a friends house & saw a stihl 025 (now a 250) out with the trash.

Picked it up & cleaned it off, put in a new plug. new gas & it fired up runs good & has decent compression.

The oil isn't feeding into the bar. What to check first?

I will send you a trail cam and we can watch to see what this guy puts out next.

Maybe I should send you a list of what I am looking for. It's kind of long however.....

There's a filter on the end of the hose in the oil tank. Pull it out with a wire hook and clean it.

[quote="lloyd in sc"](reply to post at 23:16:42 06/04/12) [/quote Turn the saw upside down. There should be a screw that adjust the amount of oil going to the bar. Turn the srew to full open. I may be wrong. The 025 may not have a oil flow adjustment, but it won't hurt to check.

Rollie there is no oil adjustment on the 025. My MS 250 when new would turn the bar blue with steady sawing ( bar not getting enough oil). Took it back to dealer and they put a new high out put oil pump for a 025 on it. The 025 had a standard oil pump and you could get a high out put pump. Some dealers will not put a high out put on a MS 250 because of EPA rules and regs.

The standard oil pump can easily be modified to give same flow as the hi volume unit and is not hard to do. SHould not be hard to find a how-to by googling the subject.

The MS 250 was a new saw and under warranty. Any modification would void warranty on new saw. The new high out put oiler would not void the warranty.

I had an oiler put in my stihl and it stopped working. I said it should have lasted longer than that. I poured a cup or so of gas in the oiler and shook it around then dumped the gas out. Did it a second time then put in bar oil and haven't had a problem since. Worked for me will it work again?????

The first thing take bar off and see if all oil holes are open. Also take oil cap off and see how clean oil tank is . I know guys that never clean around cap before opening it and let dirt and crud in it and plug up oil intake. It could also have a bad oil pump. If you would have to replace the pump get the high out put for an 025. I bought a MS250 two years ago and it didn't put out enough oil and bar turned blue. Dealer put a new 025 high out put pump on it and I don't have problem with bar turning blue.

Id be checking the oil pump drive gear, behind the clutch cover on it, just a little plastic gear that gets worn very easy, if not that the hose inside the oil tank may have came off, or developed a hole..Bob
