How do I go about determining the age of a anvil. I found numbers on the base but unable to find a web site giving the age or year |

| The age is not so important as the size and quality. I think on the Peter Wright's there is some way to determine the year but as someone noted the numbers are the weight [in possibly British stone weight]maybe not lbs. . All old good ones sell for a good buck. |

| A good sign that you have an old anvil is its construction. If the top surface is a steel plate welded to a wrought-iron body, it's probably pretty old, maybe pre-war. Newer anvils are one piece of cast steel. Of course if it's cast iron rather than cast steel, it's not a proper anvil at all, but rather an "anvil-shaped object". |

| The numbers on the side of the anvil refer to the weight of the anvil. If more info is needed, email is open. HTH |
