These are pictures of a tire changer I made from plans I found in hotrod magazine 30 years ago.The upright 2" dia post has to be anchored in concrete because it gets a lot of pressure on it. The 1/2" round steel plate has to be of a diameter which will fit in about a 16" rim so the rim can be bolted flat to the plate with 2 bolts. The bead breaker has to be adjustable up and down the post for different tire sizes. This one is made so you can slip an extension over it to get lots of leverage. I never found a tire bead I couldn't break with it. In the bottom picture, you can see the hole in the end of the tube that fastens with a pin at different heights on the post. I bought an $80 bar for changing tires from gemplers but that was a waste of money it's just a 1" square bar that has been flattened on one end for removing the tire and something on the other end that doesn't work very well for remounting the tire. Notice the holes in the plate on a curve to fit different bolt circles.
