School Bus to RV

I guess you don't have to be from the south to have a little red neck in ya'. I really enjoy such sites as skoolie.net to see the "professional" conversions some people do. Unfortunately it's hard to shake the school bus look, but some are very well done.

I'm afraid my wife will never allow an old bus in our yard, but I actually would like to convert one.

Crazy??

Thanks,
Glenn F.

A buddy of nine converted one to go hunting with his friends. Looks nice and sleeps 8 with plenty of room. Has everything but air conditioning in it.

http://steampunkworkshop.com/bus1.shtml The Victorian bus is the conversion against which all other school bus conversions must be measured!

friends of mine got an old bus that did not run,and hauled it out and use it as a shooting shack works good!

I guess it's clear who wears the pants on your place.

I think converting a school bus to RV is a great idea and a whole pile cheaper(Safer too)than buying a flimsy RV.

saw one where they cut back 2/3 off, and make into tractor-hauler. keep front part to put tables, frig, to keep out of rain/sun. "tractor party bus".

You could make a marti gras float out of it!!

I use one of my old buses to haul my show cars. Works pretty slick. It's still got A/C in it from my days in the charter business and will run 75 mph hour all day with the two speed rear. I wouldn't give it up for anything.

Here are a couple pictures (I hope it works - I haven't posted pics before). The first is What it looks like with the ramps stored in the rear bumper. They slide between the frame and rest just behind the rear axle. The second is when I was loading a car to go to a show (when I lived in town).

Wife's Uncle had a 50's Ford 15-20 some passenger bus he converted into a Rv. We sold it a couple of years ago and one person that came and looked at it takes the body off and put a modern chassis with diesel engine, power brakes and ac under it. He said they were a hit at the races.

My son converted one for his buddy. Cut the rear end out, got another door, made one left hand and the other right hand. Made ramps to winch a jet ski on trailer up in for transport. Overflow people could sleep in back on floor, others in bunks. Hooked a ski boat on the back and down the road they would go. The newly retired bus cost him $800, but the conversion was probably double that. It went down the road after he got a girlfriend and a new Harley.

Google "School Bus Conversion" and you will get lots of good ideas.........as well as some wild ideas too!
