HI,all. Here is my delema,I have a torpedo heater made by DESA international, reddy heater brand, the fan/pump motor is toast, the front bearing is shot so she wont spin, looking around i have found a N.O.S. motor for over a hundered bucks! that seems to me to be kind of high for a 1/5 H.P. motor! any ideas where a guy can find one more reasonably priced? the part # is 102001-30, but the old part# is 103493-01 thanks all!

yup, thats the trouble, but someone else has to have a motor like that,Im sure desa did not build that motor,so i was hopeing to find a similar motor somewhere else

Don't know anything about the motor that you need, but I discovered that a common can opener/knife sharpener motor would replace the fan motor in my welder. That was after I gave $25 for the new fan motor. Those old can openers were in every yard sale in the country for 50 cents.

Might be sized wrong for your needs.

CR MY son just told me they have( surpluss Center) has some motors listed. Might give em a try. He-- we have a hard time throwing any good looking items in the junk bin, Find out that there is more then one way to skin a cat. Subsitute different motor assembly"s that are close to what your unit has. LOU.

This is your source for parts for those heaters. Made by DESA for many different companies under dozens of different names.

These folks handle the parts and also have information on tune up and adjusting fuel pressure, troubleshooting, etc for them.

But yes, the motors are $120 to $160 depending on the model. Still worth fixing compared to a new heater.

Heres some photos of our Protemp heater parts breakdown, and a link to Surplus Center for electrical motors. The photos had to be shot in 3 different pages cause I couldn't get the printing close enough to read unless it was done this way. Hope this helps,
LOU

I believe my ALL-PRO 110,000 btu (also made by DESA) has a GE number on the fan motor..

I'll be in the shop tomorrow, I'll try to remember to see if it has a # on it, and look in the book to see what my part number would be. If I didn't have hopes to finding a igniter (cheaper than on the website) I'd probably give you this motor, but really want to fix this heater still.

The book Lou posted looks like for a newer heater, like the one I bought 2 weeks ago.. in fact, I dare bet it's the same book as came with my new one.

Never know, a guy could get lucky

Oh, and word of advice: If you need a spark plug for yours, try NAPA before ordering online.. I got one at NAPA for about 10 bucks as opposed to 35 online (which is why I'm trying to find a ignitor locally)
