The world of tella marking calls. Just by chance I pressed zero after the what ever message starts and to my surprise a voice comes on and states my phone number and then states that this numbe will be removed from the list. Have used this 4 times now and always have the my number removed-all calls were from a different pitch company.

As Paul did say have a good day!

Good info but I registered my number on the Federal "Do Not Call" list and haven't recieved those kind of calls for years.

I might try that. Even though we're on the Do Not Call list, some still get around it.

What I usually do is, when caller ID indicates a telemarketer, I answer the phone in Japanese and continue to talk in Japanese. It blows them out of the water and they seldom call back. Once when I was talking in Japanese, the caller kept asking me in English if I spoke Spanish. Another caller called his supervisor over and they talked openly about what the heck language I was speaking.

I'm really not that fluent in Japanese, I just know enough of the language to harass telemarketers.

i had a woman that called me all the time wanting me to change telephone service the next time she called i said he11 lady i dont even have a phone and hung up she never did call back

Is the caller someone with whom you do business?
Such as your fone company, a credit company, etc and so on. They are not limited by the 'no call list.'

My youngest used to sell MCI back in the day(made good money too)They were not allowed to hang up, no matter what was said to them, just hang up. The oldest made her car payments for a year back then when they would call and offer a $100.00 to switch your long distance carrier. She would switch about every other week.

That is good, I will use it next time.
The number of TM calls to my home phone have all but ceased. I have used everything from telling them they have the wrong number, faking an emergency similar to what Tom Mabe does in his comedy acts, to just hanging up on them. I guess they decide to go where the "fish" are instead of putting up with "no bites".
Had one guy call on behalf of the "Local Law Enforcement Group". He immediatley said that there was no reason for alarm and that he was not a policeman. He said the purpose of his call was to raise money for them and that $100 was the lowest donation anyone had made. So I asked him if he represented the local law, he said yes and named the city. I said, great, I know most of those folks. I asked him the Chief's name, he did not know. I asked him several other questions and he did not not know.
I then told him that I had kept him on the phone so that we could trace the call and that law enforcement was on the way to his place. He went crazy and begged me to not send them. I told him to have a nice day and I hung up.
Funny, I have never gotten another solicitation from the "Local Law Enforcement Group".
