ebay 3 wrenches UPS over 47 dollars

I know the sun is warm in AZ, but looks like a bad case of heat stroke. John Deere 3 comb wrenches shipping fees is out of sight??? Flat rate box is something like 7 dollars for same items.
 
Yeh, they obvioulsy entered something wrong in the shipping calculator section. It is showing $49.52 for me.

The prices for UPS and Fed EX have gone out of site with the fuel surcharges, etc. I just shipped an intake/exhaust manifold from Virginia to Illinois. It weighed 17 lbs. UPS was $20.00 +, Fed Ex was $22.00+ and Uncle Sam"s USPS charge was $16.07. Never thought I"d say our mail system is the way to go but IT IS! Oh yeah, just ordered two plastic control knobs for a battery charger I have. Cost of product was $1.00 each. Weight a few ounces. Shipping cost from Fed Ex $10.00!
 
Seller is making up for low starting price in the "shipping" cost. If you bite, you get snookered. Let the epay management know about the shipping charges, it may change or eliminate the auction. Your best attack is to walk away unless you already have the highest bid and the auction is over. You might withdraw because of the inflated shipping. But the management won't like you anymore.

ALWAYS CHECK THE SHIPPING CHARGES BEFORE BIDDING!

Yeah kinda like the grass whizzer ads where they will give you free whizzer blades for life, just pay shipping and handling :)

$10 or so S&H for $2 worth of parts and $2 postage.
 
This is usually the seller's way of making money. Seller has to pay commision on the sale price, but not on the shipping. So more shipping- less sale price equals more profit. Also and I may be wrong, because I haven't sold for a while, as Ebay tries to combat this, they have added their own shipping calculator which has huge discrepencies. If a seller does not quote a flat shipping fee but instead uses the little "click here to calculate" that ebay provides they may have much higher fee than realistic.
Ebay has a question forum like this one and the "shipping" section is full of questions and complaints regarding this. Also fuel prices has hit everyone too.
 
Flat rate boxes are kinda small. Don't know the auction, but a whole lot of combination wrenches won't fit in the flat rate boxes.

While regular mail (USPS) is fairly cheap, UPS, Fed-Ex and the like are incredibly expensive to ship through if it's not corporate business to business shipping.
 
When I sell somthing on ebay, and I use the shipping calculator. When I fill out the form for the shipping calculator, I set my price for packaging. So, lets say, it cost $3.00 to ship this package to you. But, when I filled out the form for the shipping calculator, I put down that I wanted $40.00 for packaging. When you use the shipping calculator. It will show that it costs $43.00 to ship to you.
