Starting a Titan 6500 diesel generator

Any one out there know any thing about starting the TGQBE 6500? The owners manual doesn't help much. It mentions a compression release switch but I can't find it. There may not be one one this unit. I bought this generator used to supply power to my work shop and have in case of power outage. Anyone have a better manual than the owners manual?

If it's the Chinese copy of the Yanmar which is sold under a dozen different names. The compression release is the red tipped lever on the top of the cylinder head/rocker arm cover. Roll the engine slowly until compression starts. Tip the compression release lever. Take hold of the starter handle with one or two hands. Brace one foot against the generator frame. Get good footing on the other foot so you don't fall. DO NOT JERK THE ROPE. Just pull as hard and fast as you can with a SMOOTH heave. Make certain the tank isolation valve is turned on and system full. I looked like a dope and was sore for days after some donkey shut the tank valve off instead of the regular injection shut off. And away she goes. No need to touch the compression relief to release it. Caution don't shove the compression release while the engine is running in an attempt to see what happens or to shut it off. I've seen two with the valve train busted and the exhaust valve head taking one bounce on top of the piston.

I'm not sure who made this diesel engine. It's around a 2002, Titan Industrial TGQBE 6500, engine model # 186F, 406cc. The only information I have is an owners manual. It doesn't tell anything about the unit. It's all about safety of one's self and the engine.
This engine will start and run for about 3 seconds. Then it shuts down. I acts like it runs out of fuel. I can wait 15 minutes and it will do the same thing again but if I try right after it shuts down, the engine will turn over but it wont try to start. I wonder if the oil pressure shut down switch could be bad. That is, if it works on the fuel.
There is a fuel off & on just before it goes into the glass bulb and an off-run linkage that might go to the fuel pump. That's all I have figured out. This unit is electric start with a pressure oil system. Do you know if the oil pressure switch shuts off the fuel or works on the compression? I have found the oil pressure sending unit, so if the pressure switch is not in the same switch, I don't know where to look or what it looks like. I will add, this is a completely enclose generator.
I take it that this is a fuel injection system so where would they put the fuel injection pump?
Any help on this problem will be appreciated.

This may or maynot be a Yanmar clone. The "injection pump" is just a gravity fed plunger run off the cam shaft. I suspect you are on the right track with fuel starvation maybe caused by a emergency shut off.

Hi JR,

I would test the oil pressure with a manual gauge. Sounds like the system is shutting off on the low oil pressure switch. Could be a bad sendor or a bad oil pump.

If the manual gauge shows pressure during the 3sec run then it's a bad sending unit or is wired wrong. The pressure switch will be wired in series with the kill switch.
