Montgomery Ward small engines

I understand that MW engines were manufactured by several companies. Is there a way to tell, by serial or model #, who made the engine? Would need to know when purchasing points, etc.
The one I have: model # 6100 3111, serial # m 8474845 b.
Thanks, Wayne

There's some "source codes" out there for Sears stuff, but I don't know of any for MW.

If you could post a couple of photos of the engine very likely someone will recognize it, and know who made it.

FWIW, "Clinton" made a "1600" Series, and I believe MW sold Clinton engines (amongst several other brands) does you engine look anything like those in the literature linked below?

(I saw elsewhere that the "1600" Series was 6.5 HP, IIRC.)
