Woodmizer LT30 Kohler K341

Hey folks I know this is a tractor site . I really need ya'll help. I need to tap into the knowledge base here. I have a 1987 Woodmizer bandmill . It has a k341 16 hp engine. The trouble is that the old school Reg/Rectifier is bad and so was the stator . I bought a new stator a 4 wire. The Reg/Rectifier is no longer available. I have connected woodmizer they have tried to help but were unable to. The new one Reg/ Rectifier that has 3 wires and a body ground. The old one has 4 wires and a ground. see the pictures .Then there is 2 wires coming from the key switch box. As you can tell this is mess. I think it like the old wisconsin engines. I would appreciate thoughts. Dwayne

Lucky,

I don't know much about your charging system, but wonder if there's any way to make the 3-wire stator function with the magnet ring in the flywheel you have.

Take a look at .pdf page 39 in the Wisconsin manual I posted, it appears the Wisconsin and Kohler 30 charging systems are pretty similar, down to the regulator, which has a Synchro part number of 3020D.

The 30 Amp system is shown in the K341 manual, on .pdf pages 87 and 88.

FWIW, there's a "good used" regulator on ebay, auction # 263258522744.

If you can come up with the original part number, there's probably a correct stator out there some place on the 'net.

Or, you could simply install a small belt- driven import car alternator, such as a Hitachi or Nippondenso.

Link to Wisconsin manual showing the same charging system: http://www.wiengines.com/part_catalog/wisconsin Click on Line 38 to open that manual, go to .pdf page 39.
