I don't think you'll find a clear diagram. Things to look for are a lateral bind in the butterfly shaft, a sticking butterfly shaft or coupler from misaligned head gasket material or shellac, and a shaft clockspring not wound tight enough to keep play out of the linkage. To tighten it, you will have to remove the head, or at least remove the butterfly if you can get to the screw.
