i have a w1770 wisconsin engine on my stumpgrinder it is about 35 to 37 hp. im buying a vh4d wisconsin engine and i was wondering the difference in the two because according to the specs it doesnt look like much of a differenc, also is it ba short shaft or a long shaft.

I thought VH4D had about 30 HP.
I have a skid loader with a VF4d that originally had a VH4d.
VF4d has plenty of power. Can''t help with the shaft, sorry.

The crankshaft on the 1770 uses a flange at the output where
all the different output variations can be swapped out without
changing the internal crank. So they only have one to
inventory instead of many different ones.
Not much else different that I am aware of.
The flat head engine is dead anywhere there are emission
controls for new engines.
