I have the igniter timed now I am installing a rebuilt magneto on my model E 11/2 hp engine. I am confused about the R and L buttons. Thanks for your help, Mark

Mark, the mag timing is explained in the manual at the link I previously posted.

In this application, the mag turns "LH", so you can 100% IGNORE the RH button.

The theory is that this is a simple low-tension mag that generates AC current. For maximum spark when the igniter points snap open, the mag rotor must be moving through the position in the stationary magnet where magnetic field change and therefore primary current are the greatest.

Timing the mag as instructed below should accomplish that!

So, igniter trip and the "LH" rivet button in the mag JUST starting to rise should occur together at the "SPARK" timing mark.
