Test ignitor

F/M 3 hp throttle gov.1918 I think.
I"ve had this motor for about ten years and finally getting around to try and make it run and would like to test the ignitor. I"m not sure if the mag works or not or if it"s even in time. Any help will be appreciated.

Simple car coil and a battery. Make sure your coil mag is not hooked to the igniter . Connect the battery ground to the engine and run the positive side to the coil and from the coil to the igniter
