Maytag mixer adjustment

I've been trying to get my Grandpa's single cylinder Maytag running today only to get it to fire twice. I have a couple of questions, first what is the gap of the plug? I've cleaned the points and have a nice blue spark. Fresh fuel mixed 16:1, took mixer off an cleaned with carb cleaner and air. Check ball is free, gas is coming out the exhaust. If you were to push in the tab on mixer adjusting screw how far would screw be backed out? Thanks

Is your engine a model 92 single cylinder? If so it only has a open and close valve on the mixer. Turn it to 3/4 open and crank a few times. If gas comes out the exhaust its flooded. Clean spark plug and try with valve open a little less. Mine runs good a half way which is streight up. Plug gas is .20 I think. Hope this helps. Gcm
