Pete,
There is not much info in paper form for the Sandow contract engines made by Waterloo Engine Company. The one good thing about most Waterloo engines are that they are pretty simple in design and function. That engine is a nice sized one and they run really well when working correctly. I could throw out a bunch of info to you in this posting. It most likely would work out better if you start out with some questions to us. I will throw you a few first:

Is the engine complete? The lukenheimer carb is there, the fuel system is solid, bearing shims left to take out if needing to tighten up the bearings.
How is the gear wear? This could be a indicator on how much it was ran.
How sloppy is the governor collar on the crankshaft? This could make a difference on how well the detent latches out when running.
Is the fan there and now all bent up?
Does everything move freely on the engine?
How wore are the valve guides? Well, and the valves?
Do the flywheels spin true?
Does the engine have a Webster mag or just a basic ignitor for ignition?

If you get the serial number off the tag or the end of the crankshaft, the year of manufacture can be found for you.

I hope the best to you and your new toy. The old iron preservation is a great hobby.
