Please Help Identify This Engine

I was given this engine, and I don't know anything about it. I would like to know what it is, who made it, how much horsepower, what it was designed to power, etc,. Basically any information would help. The previous owner that gave it to me told me he has had it for at least 15 to 20 years and it has always been stored inside his shop in the dry. He said an older fellow who had no use for it any more gave it to him. It is supposed to have been rebuilt and runs great, or did 20 years ago. My friend never ran it, it just sat in his shop in his way until he decided to give it to me, and he doesn't remember what type of engine he was told it was. Any help in identifying it would be great. Thanks

Wisconsin VE4, VF4, several other similar models, some of them may still be made today. Flat-head, air cooled V4 engines. Newer ones may be overhead valve type.
Used a lot in the 1940's and 1950's on balers and some combines, also chippers, welders, and some skid steers.
Ours on the baler and combine were crank start, your's seems to have an electric start button.
My manual for the baler engine says VE4 was 3 by 3 1/4 inches and 91.9 cubic inches and 20.5 hp at 2200 RPM. And the VF4 was 3 1/4 by 3 1/4 inches and 107.7 cubic inches and 23.0 hp at 2200 RPM.
This was from the original New Holland model 76 baler made in 1948.

Thanks for the replies, now I know what it is, I just have to figure out what I can use it for. The price was right, free, now I need to put it to use. It does have an electric starter. I will probably try to crank it soon. I guess it would be better to start it occasionally then to let it just sit.

I have two of them. Sticky Valves can be a problem. Give it a compression check, if u have problem come back.(can be fixed without removing head).

Is there a way that I could identify exactly which wisconsin engine this is? I researched online after I got back the replies and I still can not determine exactly which engine I have. I can not find an identifier tag anywhere on the engine. I did find a small narrow tag that has the serial number on it, but not a tag with the engine family on it. It probably doesn't matter unless I need parts, but I would like to know which Wisconsin this engine is.

Another question, would an engine like this be a good candidate for a home made tractor?
Thanks for all the replies.
