IHC lb 3to5 hp compression

Can anyone tell me what the compression should be on the IHC lb 3 to 5 hp engine. I have 30 #. The engine will puff but not hit enough to crank or even turn the flywheel one revolution. This is using starting fluid. Nothing at all with gas. Timing is correct and mag is hot. Help!!! And thanks.

That's not much but it probably should run. Have you had the piston out? Got a little oil in the cylinder to try to cheat the compression up a little? I don't know much about these IHC's.

I have not been able to get an engine to run with less than 75 lbs of compression. You mileage may differ.

On paper in a perfect world, a model T Ford will have about 55 psi. I have started them many times with less than 40 psi. Just for the sake of discussion, FWIW.

Put a little oil in the engine cylinder that may help the compression come up a bit then use your torch propane or acetylene to put raw vapor fuel in it while cranking it over. This won't wash the oil off the cylinder walls. I've started quite a few engines thru the years with my cutting torch.
