VF4 with clutch (crankshaft difference?)

I purchased a WW61E clutch to use with my VF4 engine. I also found the special main bearing plate BG210C. The manual shows a different crankshaft and I read some posts where someone mentioned the current crankshaft can be shortened to work with the clutch. How much material are we talking 1/2 inch, inch or more? I don't plan to use this engine without the clutch anyway so modifying the current crankshaft won't be a problem. I haven't tried to assemble the clutch yet because the engine is still up on a storage shelf in the barn. Thanks.

I have shortened a couple of them. I have an orignal crank out of an engine, I'll measure the legnth for you. Also the size of the key is different and I had to make a stepped key.

With the bearing plate off, from bearing cone total legnth 1 and 15/16". Clutch key way 5/16"
your shaft most likely will be 3/8". Easy to cut off with hack saw and engine running. I have all the books and a lot of parts. Hope this helps, Jim
