Wiring the VRK1815 Tisco Reg. to Delco 6 volt system

I have a mid fifties Farmall-H, with a delco Generator, with adjustable brushes and it quit charging. I took the generator apart and everything looked good, except the small bolt and nut that keep the brush set where you want it was striped so I replaced it, but I'm not sure where the brush set should be set, to the right, in the center or to the left, looking from the inspection cover end of the generator.
I also wanted to replace the regulator with a new one and the one I ordered was a Tisco VR1813 but there were no instruction's with it and when I ordered it, I was told I also needed a conversion kit, Tisco VRK1815, which I think is a resistor and so I bought this conversion kit as well as well, but the two regulator's are not the same and I think the new one is a 12 volt instead of a 6 volt and the kit has a resistor. Both regulator's mount on the generator but my old one only has three termanal's, Gen. and Field on one side and Bat on the other and the new one has three termanal's on one side, Gen. Field and the third one has the letter I stamped on it and a forth termanal underneith and between the bottom of the Regulator and the Generator and I'm just not sure what goes to that termanal or the one on the other side marked with the letter I on it. The conversion kit that I bought has a resistor about an inch long with a screw through it and I'm not sure which terminal it should go to or where the other end of the wire on it goes.
I have worked on several Generator's in the past but I just want to make sure I hook everything up right so I hope someone will be able to give me a pointer or two. I think that the I on one of the three new terminal's, is for the battery wire because there is no terminal on the new regulator marked Bat, as I have seen in the past on other's and I'm not sure what the forth terminal on the under side of the regulator is for. My old one was marked field to field and Gen, to Ge, between the regulator and generator on one side and Bat. on the other, but this new one has me in the dark and I hope someone out there can help me out with the problem's I'm having.
Thanks in advance, Frank

If the old regulator did NOT have an "L" terminal so there is no wire for it, IGNORE the "L" terminal on the new regulator.

It's purpose, where used, is to supply power to the light switch, without the associated charging current having to pass through the cutout contacts.

I have the same deal going on. I have a john deere h with 3 position light switch.i bought the conversion kit(vrk1815) and 4 terminal regulator. no directions on how to hook it up. anybody have a wiring schematic on how to hook it up? the light switch is also brand new 3 terminal. little disgusted. can anybody help? thanks.
