Have you ever loosened stuck Wis exhaust valves by tapping them down with an allen wrench? I rigged an external spring to push them down.

I"ve never thought about doing it that way. I"ve
got about 14 Two cylinder engines here right now
and need to check all of them, since they have
been sitting over the winter. I checked my one V4
yesterday, and it was stuck...darn!, and I"ve
been oiling them pretty regularly. I"ll guess
that now I"ve an excuse to try your idea.
The worry is,.....all of the 2 cylinders have
aluminum heads, and the allen wrench idea could
damage Spark plug threads.

Open up an anti fowler with bigger hole in center.
Insert allen , screw in anti fowler.
That should save your threads.
I have loosened up stuck valves in Ford and Chrysler flatheads using the "L" shaped tool.
Tap lightly, no pounding. Have fun!

I took the center out of a sparkplug and welded a short piece of pipe to it. Drilled a shaft that would slide into the pipe and pressed a slice of socket-head bolt into it so the allen wrench couldn't spin and used an old tappet spring over the shaft. Bolts welded to the outside of the pipe connect to a plate on top of the spring. Unbelieveable how good it works.
