International LA magneto

Normally I'm hanging out in tractor areas of this forum but today I got my LA running, after a short while it quit, I checked and no spark. I pulled the cover off the mag to check the points and when I turned the engine over the shaft didn't move. I pulled the mag off and the shaft feels loose and wobbles around in the housing like the bearing is shot. Is there a place I can send it to that fixes these mags? It's a Wico AH.

Well, it really depends on where you are located. There area quite a few places around the country that can work on the mag for you. I'm in NE Iowa, there is Mitch Malcom in Ottertail, MN, Kevin Mcworter in Wisconsin, Rudy's in Northern MN, Hit-Miss Enterprises in Ohio and the list can go on... I can help out but there are others that can as well.

Kevin McWhorter has done some fine work for me,
and I highly recommend him. He is based in
Minier, Ill, but has a portable shop, and sets
up at tractor and engine shows, repairing magneto"s. He (Should) be at the "Badger Steam
and Gas Engine" Club, Swap meet, at Baraboo, Wi
Which is, (I Believe) this upcoming weekend.
His website is: magneto-repair.com and there
should be a summer schedule, on the website
His e-mail is: [email protected], and phone
number is (309)303-2634
