BUDA diesel 6DT 468

Anyone know where I can get parts, and gaskets for a Buda diesel? We have a 6DT-468 on our sawmill and it appears to have a blown head gasket. I'm not having any luck finding much on this engine.

I looked under BUDA in a new NAPA industrial
engine catalog, and found no listing. I checked
in a 1973 NAPA engine parts catalog, under BUDA
and nothing there eather, but they do list a
516 cubic inch, 4-7/16 bore, and a 844 cubic
inch 5-1/4 bore. the same engines were listed
under Allis-Chalmers. Allis bought Buda in 1953
to get big diesels for their crawler tractors
and Earthmovers.

There is an outfit that supposedly has old stock Buda parts called The Buda Engine Co. or something similar. They are in Louisiana but I have never had any luck trying to deal with them. There is also a fellow in Kansas named Tom Underwood who sells old stock engine parts, I believe his business name is Parts of the Past. Google both his name and the business and you should get his phone number. Failing that you can get a hold of John at Gaskets To Go. ( just google that name to get information) John is A-1 and will custom make your gasket from the old one as a pattern, I have used him a lot.

Just noticed your post...
If budaengine.com (Jim Cousins--phon--in Shreveport) didn't help, try John Paulsen in Olympia (John Paulsen Marine) who has a considerable stock of Buda parts--last phone # I have is 360-534-9679 AFTER 9PM, or [email protected]
Buda diesel parts are not going to be that easy to find--if the above can't help try the profe$$ional obsolete parts dealers: egge, foleyengines, mandmsurplus, endurancepower, jobbersinc, etc etc (jobbers often has obscure parts, but various comments were that they think very highly of them).
Ton Underwoods phone should be 913-749-5231 (recent area code change).
Phil Heisey deals with smaller Budas in Cockshutts, but he might have suggestions (or sympathy) try [email protected] or 215-256-8654
Last and least, if you still need a manual I've got one covering the 6DT468 Diesel; Buda "Bulletin 1427-A", no printed date but back cover has 11-50-3M(???) 81/2x11 PB, 67 pgs, fair number of illus but not nearly as nice as a Wauk manual--$5 plus media mail mailing if interested.
Oh--as mentioned, Allis bought Buda and continued some of the smaller engines; these I don't know about but it wouldn't hurt to check with Allis dealers. Good luck. Bud

Thanks for the replies...I've been in touch with John Paulson trying to match up a new head and gaskets, but to this point no luck.

Gaskets are no trouble; gaskets-to-go.com or olsonsgaskets.com will make you a set from your old ones or tracings---prices, of course, could be another matter. Good luck.
