Fairbanks Morse 3 hp Z Engine

I am missing the magneto for this engine, will the magneto and gear from a horse and a half F/M engine work on the three horse. Thanks for any imput.

Bob,
You are going to need some better information on your engine. You say a 3 hp Z. What is the serial number and is this a spark plug engine? That is needed to be able to know what you are dealing with. Thanks and have fun on your engine.

The serial number is #558028 and it is set up for a spark plug.There is a square block of wood where the mag would mount, it has a metal strap and the renants of wire attached to it. I can get a smaller F/M engine with a mag I could use on the three horse if it would work, the gears are probaly different.
