Hi
New to the forum. Newbie has some questions. I am trying to get more information on a hit & miss engine. A tag on it reads
1 3/4 S hp. What brand is this engine? Looking at the pictures, does it appear to have the original paint color? Minus the poorly done stripping. I believe it is missing the main oiler, where may I purchase one?
thanks

It is a Hercules of Evansville IN built engine. Hercules also built engines for Sears as well as engines for Jaeger cement mixers. The location of the oiler is different on a Series and an Economy engine. I can not remember which is witch. If no one else answers I can look tomorrow if we don't combine. They are nice simple trouble free engines. Also look up Hercules engines.

No, the S does not mean Sears, that is a Hercules, Economy Model S, series engine. Nice engines, I have 2 and they are a nice, trouble free engine

I think that he meant to say "Sears", instead of "Series". The "S" stands for TYPE S engine. The paint job on your engine is definitely not from the factory. Someone has repainted it, and not done a very good job, either.

I've posted a link for info on the Hercules engines. Good luck!
