LB no start

Been cranking for three days!!! Good spark at the plug when you pull it out and lay it on the cooling tank. Gas gets to the mixing valve, but at that point it does not seem to get to the combustion chamber...something broken in the mixer or what? It started on the first flip out of storage, then tougher, now not at all. This one has the integral pump jack. Thanks...Darald

Pour a teaspoon of gasoline in the plug hole and that will let you know whether you have a fuel problem or not. My bet is a bad plug though. Some plugs will not fire under compression pressure, but will fire while laying on the engine head.

I have a couple of five HP LBs and they are a little cranky about spark plugs. Joe

Don't think there is anything in the mixer to break. 3/4 turn out is what the book says for the setting. If it won't crank with the needle out close it and crank it a few times. If it has the throttle lever open it all the way up. Change the plug. Keep cranking. Come back in a day and try again. Been there done that many times. I was trying to get 2 started at a show one day and a man walked up to me and said (my daddy always said those were the only engine he ever saw that there was nothing wrong with them but they would not start) I completely agree with that statement.

I believe there is a check valve in the fuel line. Is it gummed up and not seating properly ?

Seems like the check valve was in the tank at the strainer screen.
