Height of Powermate

I am considering a purchase of a Powermate 5000/6250 portable generator model PC or PM 0105007. As far as I can tell, both models are the same except that one can be sold in Canada. I am going to use it to power my travel trailer from time to time. I will be transporting it in the bed of my pickup. My pickup bed has a tonneau cover that I would prefer to leave closed and therefore, I have a height limitation. Does anybody own one of these units and if so, could you tell me what the height of the unit is without the wheels and feet? The official height posted on all internet sites is 22.8" (22 13/16"). I have been told by some sellers that measurement is with the wheels. Others have said it is without the wheels and feet. The manufacturer told me it is the outside dimension of the box the unit is shipped in. Nobody seems to have a unit out the box that can be measured. Any help provided will be appreciated.

where are you buying it from? Home depot sells it and their website says that the assembled height of the machine is 24". It is a stocked generator at some stores and a store is usually more than willing to assemble and take a measurement for you. I work in a home depot repairing the tools and I recommend if you get that to not leave fuel in the tank for more that a couple of months. Powermate products are made and asia and parts take a few weeks to come in. The carbs do not clean well and gunk up if fuel is left in them for as little as 3 months. The manufacturer recommends that they just get replaced rather than cleaned. The best product I've found to clean out the powermate carbs is called Mechanic in a Bottle (sold at home depot). I just figured I'd give you some info that you usually wont hear at the store or from the manufacturer before you buy. As long as you're vigilant on you maintenance the powermates are good machines for the money though.

Thanks for the info. A couple of Amazon customers have replied to my inquiry. One said the unit was "about" 22" without wheels & feet and the other said it was 22 3/4" without wheels & feet. Looks like the dimensions listed in the specs are the out of box but unassembled dimensions.

None of the Home Depots within 50-miles of me carry the Powermates in stock. They carry Powerhouse but that equivalent unit is even bigger.

Looks like I have a decision to make. Transport it uncovered in the bed of my truck or purchase a smaller unit.

Thanks again for your time.

I just measured mine out in the Barn. Its 22 3/4" without the wheel kit and 28" with the wheel kit. You don't really want one running in the back of your truck anyway. they are very noisy. at full load they will run 12 hours on a tank of gas. We had 8 days of power outage during the 97 Flood. They will produce good power but I could hear mine running 100' away from my house.
