I have an old Continental Red Seal Power plant sitting in my barn. It has a 4 cylinder Flat Head engine. i was wondering if anyone has any specs on those motors. How many Cubic Inches and everything like that. If i can get it running i am going to put it in my wood chipper since i am vice president of my families tree business. any information would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Continental made several flathead engines, both 4 and 6 cyl. Most common 4 cyl is F series F124, F140 and F162. Also had N62 and Y91 and others, N62 had a side mount distributor and others had distributor on top of head. See if tag is still on engine, size is stamped along with SN.

As Dieseltech said, Cont'l made more engines (4s and 6s) than Carter made Little Liver Pills---they also reportedly had a habit of giving basically the same engine different designations when furnished to different builders...
Many of the F Series 4s were popular enough parts are still available thru NAPA or local equivalent...for "obsolete" Cont'l parts try Garrad (Gerry/Jerry) Moon at Montes Eqpmt in Chicago (obsolete Cont' parts dealers)
