LB age by serial number

According to my book, the LB's both the 1 1/2- 2 1/2 and the 3-5 hp. engines were made from 1941 until 1948. The LA'S were made earlier. If you have a serial # let me know and I will look up the year for you.

The information you want along with a lot of other interesting stuff is in, Data Book #1, IHC 1900-1940, Compiled by Alan C. King, Printed by, Independent Print Shop co.
9East William St.
Delaware, Ohio

The copyright date of my copy is 1986 so it may no longer be available. If you post the serial number and HP I will look it up for you. Joe

My book has no listing for the LBA 8038. There is a LAB listed, but it is a LA engine. Also the LB's start with a 6 digit number. Sorry I couldn't help you.

Are there any distinguishing marks to tell which year? Mine came without a serial plate (bought a replacement-just for 'show'). Thanks
