The original subject was "E Deere 1 12 hp".

You might want to put some oil in it, and check it the next morning. Mine went down. Wound up in the gas tank. The type e had a tin plate between the gas tank and crankcase. The gas tank was on the bottom, crankcase on top. If the engine sat for any amount of time, and got some moisture in the crankcase, it rusted the bottom out, mostly a bunch of pin holes. I cut a 2 1/2 gal oil jug up, then "glued" it onto the tin sheet, pressed it between two boards and put a few blocks on top for a couple of days to let the glue job cure. Then I redrilled new holes through the plastic jug and reinstalled it on the engine with permatex gasket maker. Haven't had anymore problems with leaks of crankcase oil into the gas tank---
