Winco - 205BS-IM, Briggs problem.

Hi Guys,

I was given an old Winco Generator that has a Briggs 233431 series engine.

The big thing I'm missing right now is spark. I cleaned the points, grabbed a new plug but nothing. Now the obvious place to start would be new points and a condenser but I didn't have those things on hand so I thought I would make sure there wasn't anything funky going on with the coil so I removed the housing to take a peak. The thing I noticed is the flywheel doesn't seem to have any magnetism what so ever.

I don't play with small engines all that much (not that this thing is all that small!) but that doesn't seem right at all. I know when I've worked on similar engines before the flywheel would at least grab a screw driver.

Can these guys loose their magnetism?

Thanks,

K

Yes, they can go bad. Be sure you are touching the magnets themselves and not just anywhere on the flywheel. If that is the case, then here is one I found on ebay.
