I could use some help identifying the age of this engine I was given. The engine has the waukesha manufactures plate with the number 580851. It is a flat two cylinder opposed air cooled engine with a Fairbanks Morse mag type J2B8 on it. I have been doing some googling but can't come up with anything. thanks, Leon

These are apparently all variations of what is loosely (at least in parts catalogs) called/known as the Wauk "150" engine. A 56 Fed-Mog shop specs manual shows both of the Crosley 2 Cyl's with OE part numbers "150xxx", similar to the Wauk OE numberng system used with 130s (130xxx) etc at that period. I don't have anything that lists the Cub Twin or its OE part numbers. As John says, the Hist Soc (wehs.net) can give you more precise info on your unit.

Thanks everyone. The waukesha historical site also shows the air cooled two cylinder was introduced in 1938. Very interesting history on this company. It appears that the two cylinder air cooled was used on the early crosleys. My example has a bellhousing and clutch. Leon
