Ford power unit

I have a four cylinder ford power unit that was built around 1960 or before. It is the same engine that was put in the ford tractors 1953 and beyond.
Would someone know how to test the coil to see if the coil is good. Thanks for any help

If you have power to the coil and the points and condenser are good, you should have spark out of the coil.

Do you see spark at the points as the engine is cranked?

The engine will start and run, at idle or full throttle it will run a minute or more and then die. something is haywire. I have cleaned the points and put in a new condenser.

That was what I thought also. It is set like the book says. With the float installed turn that half of the carb upside down and the closest part of the float should be 1/4 inch above the gasket. I might just go a little closer and see if that helps.
Thanks though

I felt the carb was set right. When cranking over the engine I could see the sediment bowl fill full of fuel quickly so I knew it was getting gas to the carb. I thought about blowing out the fuel line from the fuel pump back to the tank incase there was an intermintit blockage. Looking at I felt the carb was set right. Looking at where the line in connected to the tank I discovered a shut off valve. This valve is not visible unless you put your head down under the machine. I turned the valve to see what position it was in and discovered it was almost closed. where the line in connected to the tank I discovered a shut off valve. This valve would have had to have vibrated closed over the years until it got too closed. I forgot there was a valve down there. I had the entire machine apart 20 years ago. Runs again like a million bucks.
