Help identifying engine

These pics are of an air compressor my grandfather used to power a jack hammer on his construction sites. The engine is definitely a twin cylinder with the cylinders completely seperate. The power take off must have been between the 2 crankshafts, as I don't see it in the photos from either side of the compressor. The photos are from the early to mid 1920's. The boy in the photo was my father and he was born in October of 1918. E-mail will be open.

I believe it is a Schramm compressor in your picture. I had to drag out my "Encyclopedia of Gas Engines" by C.H. Wendel to be sure.

He says Schramm used Domestic engines for his rigs and the top picture looks like there is a side shaft to operate the valves.

One of the cylinders was for power and the other was used for the compressor.

Thanks for the info, I have verified that it is indeed a Schramm. I found a person on-line that has done a lot of research on Schramm and he said the compressor in the pics is either model 2 or model 3 built between 1914 and 1919 which would fit the time frame exactly.
