i have a 1.5 hp engine-- the problem is i cant get spark unless the thing is turning at running speed-- hand cranking speed produces very weak spark- so it wont start by hand -- so i am sure the problem is in the mag- so what is wrong with it?? any thoughts are appreciated!!

The mag needs to be timed to the opening of the points.The mag makes more spark at differant places in its rotation. Basicly you turn the mag to where you feal the highest magetic pull and set the engine so the points open there.

is this a spark plug engine? or is it a igniter engine? it makes a big defence.
