I bought a model M back in sept. runs like a damn aslong as you have the choke on and a piece of tape covering 90% of the air hole. I painted it made it all nice and shiny looks great. Now i cant even get it to fire. I have tons of gas if i really want to i can make gas poor out the exhaust pipe.. ive made the gap bigger on the plug it makes a nice whiteish/blue spark. Has great compression after turning it over for ten min your arms are ready to fall off.. I even hooked a 1.5hp electric motor let it turn for 20min not a whisp of smoke once in a while it will make a whisp of white fog when you give it alot of gas and thats it.... Any ideas???? I guess i should have left it rusty and trusty now its shiny and whiny

Is the mag firing? Did you paint the holes in the head where the spark plug screws in? Have any parts off it when you painted it? Is the mag case ground to the engine good?

I had the cylinder head off when i painted it. mag still fires i never had it off i just tape a cloth around it. its got excelent spark.. its getting gas theres always a white fog coming out of the pipe after it fires.. it is winter time hear im not sure if tis just to cold or what..

I actually was thinking about that tonight.. if it wasnt sparking when its in the cylinder head. would be a funny thing if thats what was..

A GOOD SPARK OUT OF THE HEAD CAN BECOME A WEAK OR NO SPARK UNDER COMPRESSION, CLEAN ALL CARBON AND FUEL/OIL RESIDUE FROM PORCELAIN AND CONTACTS OR CHANGE PLUG AND CHECK TIMING
