I just bought a 1927 IH Waukesha power unit at an auction in Missoula yesterday.
It"s a Model XA226C, 3 1/2x4 1/2, Governed speed 1400 RPM, SN 122538, Mfg Date Dec. 1927.
This unit has a clutch and belt pulley drive. It"s crank start with a magneto that has a IH logo on the cap. Also has part of a IH badge on the exhaust manifold. Castings on the skid have IH logos. The radiator id brass. It looks to be complete and not stuck. Anyone have a line on info, manuals, parts? Thanks for any help, PK.

Well, some...the XA was a fairly popular engine, and IH also used them in some trucks, along with the XAH, a larger version (I think, without looking anything up). I believe the 226C is a works code for original eqpmt (carb, ign, clutch etc).
Manuals often show up on EBay; you can also get them from the Wauk Eng Hist Soc (wehs.me.com) and they may have factory records of your engine, but no parts. They"re all volunteer so may not reply immediately.
For parts info I"d suggest posting on oldihc.com, an IH truck site, and running the archives there, where you"ll find other XA/XAH owners, and any other old IH site (redpower??). Good luck.

Jensales, at www.external_link, lists in their
index, under Engines-multiple cylinder,
Waukesha models XAH, 4 cyl, 186 cubic inch, and
210 cubic inch service manuals !
