Removing threaded pipe from exhaust manifold

Hey to all, I need some good ideas on how to remove the threaded pipe from the exhaust manifold on a Wisconsin TJD , it had a huge homemade muffler on it and I want to go back original, its quiet rusty and I dont want to ruin the manifold, Thanks, Dw

I rebuild Wisconsin 2 cyls, and usually put
the manifold in a vise and heat the 1-1/4 pipe
till its red hot and take it off with a pipe
wrench. I"ve never had a problem. I"ve never
done it with the manifold still on the engine.
I always clean up the threads with a 1-1/4 pipe tap.
By the way, NAPA auto parts has Head gaskets,
Gasket kits, Valves,Rings, Fuel pumps, Carb kits,

What I do is cut the pipe at the manifold leaving about an inch. Then heat the pipe until it glows. Then with a punch bend the pipe into the opening. It will break away from the manifold and does not hurt anything. Have done this on large and small systems with good results. Twisting the pipe will also work fine on small systems.

I want to Thank you guys for the ideas, I had been keeping the threads sprayed with PB Blaster for a few days, the homemade muffler was made out of 4" pipe and about 16" long , was able to put it on the floor and with a 24"pipe wrench on the neck of the manifold I gave it a kick with my foot and low an behold it turned WHEW that was a relief, I dont have acces to oxy-acc torches at the moment.
