I rebuild Wisconsin 2 cyls, and usually put the manifold in a vise and heat the 1-1/4 pipe till its red hot and take it off with a pipe wrench. I"ve never had a problem. I"ve never done it with the manifold still on the engine. I always clean up the threads with a 1-1/4 pipe tap. By the way, NAPA auto parts has Head gaskets, Gasket kits, Valves,Rings, Fuel pumps, Carb kits, Points, and Condensers for Magnetos. e-mail me if you want part numbers. |

| What I do is cut the pipe at the manifold leaving about an inch. Then heat the pipe until it glows. Then with a punch bend the pipe into the opening. It will break away from the manifold and does not hurt anything. Have done this on large and small systems with good results. Twisting the pipe will also work fine on small systems. |
