What will fit where a ford V4-104 once was?

A while ago I picked up off of ebay (without doing my homework, shame on me) an old Gardner-Denver SPFGA 150 CFM compressor that had been repowered with an isuzu 3 cyl diesel which I'm led to believe was a 3AB1. I picked up cheaply an isuzu C201 from a reefer truck that I was able to put in place but it does not have quite the power I'd like this unit to have and am thinking about repowering again. The service manual tells me this originally had a ford industrial V4-104 CI gas engine. What bellhousing did the ford V4-104 industrial engine have? What did the V4-104 have for HP & torque in the industrial application? Max RPM? What other ford or isuzu industrial engines, especially diesel would be good replacements for it?

I'm still debating whether to sell this compressor or repower again. Really want something 250+ CFM for my sandblasting business.
 
The v-4 was a german import. any 60 degree v-type engine based on that should work (the capri 2.6, the ford 2.8& 2.9 v-6 engines as well as the industrial 4 cylinder 1.6.) you might find an industrial ford engine in a tennant sweeper or a few makes of forklifts you could use
 
I have a guy offering to trade me a ford industrial gasser, made in 1976 - engine tag says 2.3L/140 CID. I assume this is an LRG-423 or LSG-423 model. Seller claims it came out of a detassling machine. From what I've searched google & read, looks like about a 63 HP engine, I can't seem to find info on what speeds its designed to run at? Original motor at full throttle was around 3600 RPM. Would this be a good swap? I don't want to go back to the V4-104 as parts seem rather scarce, whereas the 2.3/104 shares a lot of parts as it was put in the rangers, bronco II, pinto, mustang and a lot of other industrial apps. He's offering me a descent trade engine + cash for a plasma cutter I've got...what do you guys think?
