I have posted a couple times and If not careful , my user name shows as "Jim is hunting the illus"
I notice as I bring cursor to the user name it gives me options for others as well first is Old Roy then "Jim is hunting the illus" and a couple more adding to the sentence of an application to a face book game that I don't play (My grand daughter does ) How can we stop this ? It's very annoying to see my posts with another username.

Well, Old Roy should be set in the cookie now so if you don't click into the name box, your autocomplete won't attempt to fill one of those other names in. Your probably set now.

Great. Let me know if you want me to delete that other username, and also, if you decide to start using your original username, I can reset that for you, just send me an email on that if so.

Darn I came back to see if you had answered me yet. found my name blank...when I clicked on it I had all the optional names listed I chose Old Roy and the box disappeared.

I have had this name for so long now everyone knows me by it ..My closest friends here know my real name. So not to get some of the others confused I'll keep "Old Roy" But down deep inside I'll always be Jim H SW-PA LOL

No, you have to do the log out in Classic. The link is "Login Status" but inside there is the Log Out. Then just go do a test post, put your Old Roy and your password in and it should be fixed.
If you don't turn off the autocomplete in firefox, it will still try to put the bad name in if you try to enter your normal username again. As long as you catch that before you submit the post, it will be okay. There is another reason to turn off autocomplete. It will remember things you've typed into forms that may be privacy oriented. My opinion is that it's a feature that is trouble. I did look it up and it's AutoComplete in Firefox and Internet Explorer, in Safari, it's AutoFill.

By the way, I can delete that accidentally create username, the one that starts out "Jim is hunting...".

You'll need to find and disable autocomplete in your browser. It's a very annoying feature that tries to guess what you are going to type into a web form. Then it will often stuff the wrong thing in at the worst possible time. I don't know exactly where to tell you to look but if you let me know what browser and version you use, I'll research it and get back to you. I believe it's called AutoComplete on Firefox, but may have a different name in IE.
After you turn that off, go to the "Login Status" link at the top of the forum page, and in there is a "Log out". Do that an it will erase your password cookie so that next time, it gets created with the name you want. What happens there is that if the password is the same for both usernames, it will just keep the one that was last entered with the password even though you type another. Doing the "Log out" wipes out the cookie so it has to create a new one on the next post.

Be sure to fix the autocomplete first or it may stuff the wrong one into the posting form later.
Sorry I didn't realize this is what you were talking about the other day, I had thought it was still the issue of the links appearing on posts.
