Opening Modern View Email

If you use modern view, you can now open your email up so both Classic and Modern view users can reply via email to your posts. To do this:

1. Login to modern view and select "Profile".

2. Locate and check the box toward the bottom that says "Always show my email".

3. Verify that the email address you have there is still the one you use.
4. Submit that form.

Once you've done this, every post you make, will have a "Send Email" link on both the classic and the modern side. If you find you get too much mail, go back in to "Profile" and uncheck the "Show my email" box. It will immediately stop offering a "Send Email" link on all posts you've made (this is unlike classic where once you put your email in there, it stays forever, I'm going to change classic to use this same method soon).

For Classic users: If you don't use the "View Details" option in the "Options" link, you won't see these "Send Email" links and won't be able to reply by email to a post. To fix this, click on "Options" at the Classic Forum page, and then check the "View Details" box.
I have more to do and will continue on that tomorrow. Currently, when viewing posts on Modern that were posted in Classic, the Send Email link won't show up unless that Classic Poster has set his "Show my email" over in the modern Profile link. I'll provide more information as I figure out how to deal with little issues like that.
Thanks,

Chris

Thanks Chris. You were correct as the "Show Details" option wasn't checked.

Jim,

It's showing the "Send Email" link on the classic side, it doesn't have the Send Email button.
But I'm betting the problem is either that you aren't logged in on the classic side or the "Show Details" option isn't checked.
To get the login, click into the Test Forum, press "Classic View", then do a quick test post.
If that isn't the problem, then it's the Options on Classic. To turn on the Details options, while you are at the top level "Test Forum", click on Options and you'll see "Show Details" down toward the bottom of the options list. Check that one and then you'll see the Send Email link.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris

I changed my profile to accept email but I think it only shows the email box on Modern view but not Classic for email. What do I need to do for Classic??

Thanks,Jim
