I just bought a 1959 Ford 871 with select o
speed and ut runs great. I drove it down a
small hill by my driveway in 1st hear and
it stopped at the bottom and wouldn't move.
I tried shifting out of gear and back in
but it will not move. I cannot get it to go
into any gear. When I shift it, the engine
bears down like it wants to move but I get
no movement at all. It is like it is stuck
in neutral. I'm at a loss. I just bought
this and it's my first tractor. Ant help or
suggestions is appreciated.

Hello JOS welcome to YT! To KC I am no Ford guy but I know a bit about JD and Case power shifts. I would think if the engine is responding to a load from the transmission to me that say torque clutch hub is still intact. Not sure how Park works on those but it is almost sounds to me like it may not be releasing.
To Jo although it looks like you have a good resource here in KC for future reference this forum has a topic section devoted to all things manufactured by Ford, I would recommend you post your future inquiries about your tractor there, see link.
Lastly, I hope you did some research on your tractor, specifically the SOS models before you bought it. Those transmissions do not have the best reputation.

Is there a transmission disconnect that might have slipped out of engagement? Would be between transmission and differential.

Thank you all. It was the disconnect. The guy I bought it from removed the plate to hold it in place and forgot to put it back after he got the tractor running. All good. I appreciate the help. Glad to be part of the forum.
